Here I am talking about how much I still want it to be summer, and our heat wave breaks and I start waking up to 16 degree mornings. I guess it's finally time to face the music - fall is definitely on it's way. I will say that this is my favourite time of the year to get dressed. You can still rock bare legs and no sleeves, but have a little more fun with colours, layers and fabric choices without suffocating. One of my personal favourite tones to transition into fall? I'll let you take a guess.

What are your favourite transitional colours?

It's been quite some time since we had a chat about my current favourites, so I thought I'd do a recap of some of the beauty bits that I've been using on repeat this summer. While I'm still a big fan of many of my favourites from last summer (IT Cosmetics CC I'm looking at you), I thought it would be more beneficial to go through some of my new discoveries - so let's get cracking!

Shimmer Lights Conditioner | If you're a blonde that prefers a cool toned colour you NEED this in your life. I've been using purple shampoos for forever and found that they did have some effect on my colour, but nothing that comes close to this marvel (even the corresponding shampoo in this line!) It's definitely not a super hydrating conditioner, but it is super potent. The first time I used it I thought I might have accidentally given myself purple hair, but used once per week for 2-3 minutes it is perfection.

Nails Inc. Mayfair Lane | I went to an event for Yellow Tail & Nails Inc. earlier in the summer and had a manicure done in this colour. After a week of wear it hadn't chipped or cracked (which is usually my problem) and I knew it was going to be my new favourite colour. It reminds me of a slightly less white version of Essie Fiji (and you know I love that colour) but it stays looking great for so much longer!

Touch in Sol Stretchex Mascara | I got this mascara in a kit for Christmas but had so many mascaras open that I didn't get around to trying it until this summer. It's not the most volumizing formula, but it seems to be water resistant without being difficult to remove at the end of the night which has been perfect for the hot humid days. As you would expect it does do a good job at lengthening the lashes, which since I've been wearing minimal eye makeup this summer has been ideal for giving that fresh faced and awake look.

NARS Laguna/Orgasm Mini Duo | I'm sneaking in this old favourite because this little duo has gone everywhere with me this summer. Between Tyler's, the cottage, and staying with friends I've basically been living out of my travel makeup bag for most of the summer. This is just so compact and works with any look, I think it's such great value!

Too Faced Original Chocolate Bar | Eyeshadow has been a bit of a rarity for me this summer, but when I have been wearing it (like for my engagement photos) it's been this palette. I've never used any matte shadows that blend as well as Too Faced's formula! Plus, like everyone always says it smells like chocolate which I'm not mad at.

Urban Decay All Nighter | The humidity has been on another level this summer, and while I am prone to getting shiny throughout the day I hate adding layer after layer of powder in sticky weather. I have always been a fan of setting sprays, but I tried the UD version for the first time this summer and I'm loving it! It doesn't feel like it is sucking the life out of my face, but keeps my makeup looking fresh day to night. It does contain alcohol so I don't use it every day, but when I know I'll be out in the heat this is a must-have!

What new discoveries have you made this summer?

Is it hard for anyone else to believe it's already mid August? Seriously, where has this summer gone? Stores have started to fill up with long sleeves and deep colours, but I'm not quite ready to give up my floppy hats and summer dresses. Who else is with me?

Well hey there blogland, long time no see! We are now just over 6 weeks away from the wedding day so I thought it was about time to show you some of my favourites from our engagement shoot last month and why I think they are necessary for every bride. Our photographer did just a beautiful job, I have to say I'm just thrilled with how they turned out!
They give you and your photographer time to loosen up before the big day
While I do have some experience being in front of the camera as a blogger, I typically take all my own photos which is definitely an entirely different experience than a professional shoot. I'm so grateful we were able to take the time to learn our photographer's style of working and personality, so that we can be totally relaxed when it comes to getting photos done on our wedding day!

They will come in handy for multiple wedding-related projects
Already we have used our photos for our wedding invitations and website, and we are currently in the process of getting some printed in a book that will be using as our guest book on the day. My bridesmaids even used one or two for my bridal shower! People love seeing photos of the happy couple, and there are so many ways you can include them in all the steps leading up to your special day.

You'll have professional photos that you can use for years to come
While formal wedding photos are obviously tied to a very distinct day, more casual photos of you and your future hubby are timeless. Thank you notes and cards, gifts for close family, social media, all ways your engagement photos can live on far past your engagement period. You can even ask your photographer to capture some headshots on the day for use in your professional life. You're already all dolled up, so why not put your best face forward?

Simply, this is one of the most exciting times in your life.
Why wouldn't you want to remember it?
