It's finally that time of the year friends. Bring on the hats! I already talked about how excited I was for this moment, but the weather has finally cooled down enough to rock the wool/felt hats without dying of the heat, and I am loving it!
Tunic: Urban Outfitters {similar} | Leggings: Old Navy {exact} | Hat: Target {similar}
Boots: Spring {similar} | Bracelets: Joe Fresh {similar}

I've had this tunic top in my wardrobe probably since late high school (I know!) and I've always found a reason to keep it around in my closet. I love the simple, comfortable style that can be worn casual and flowy or dressed up a bit with a belt to cinch in the waste and some high-heeled booties like these. The neckline embroidery and studding make it an accessory on it's own! The burgundy tone of this felt hat really helps pull the red embroidery out and make it shine. This outfit was so comfortable while still looking put together, I got so many compliments when I wore it out and about this weekend!

Are you a hat person?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but fall is my favourite time to play around with makeup. You don't have to be worried that your hard work will melt off your face in an hour, and the colours of fall are just always so inspiring! Here is a quick, slightly smokey FOTD I wore this weekend to welcome back the autumn!
If you're looking to amp it up a bit for evening, just pop on a deep berry lip colour. Because there isn't any heavy liner, the eye look still plays well with dark lips without looking too overdone. Even Tyler loved this look and he hates lipstick!
Here's a breakdown of the products I used:

Face
Powder: Revlon Naked Skin Powder + Rimmel Stay Matte (center of the face)

Eyes |
Lid: Urban Decay Toasted (blended out with Naked)
Crease/Outer Corner: Urban Decay Hustle
Inner Corner: MAC Nylon

How do you switch up your makeup for fall? Are you a dark lip person?

When faux-leather leggings first came on to the fashion scene I'll admit I wasn't the biggest fan, but they were a style that quickly grew on me because of how easily they dress up and add a little extra edge to an outfit. I'm so excited to be once again co-hosting my favourite fashion link up The Creative Closet, with some of the sweetest ladies on the internet. This week's prompt is Leggings Love so link up how you style your favourite pair below!

It seems like I was on the same wavelength as both Jana and Maegen this week - the love for chambray and leather is universal! Go give their amazing outfits some love!

Can you believe we're coming up on the last week of September already? As sad as I am to say goodbye to another month, I have to say I'm excited to see the posts for next week's prompt!

Today I've got Maria from Pink Petals continuing on with the Colour Story theme with her favourite Plum products.  I'm surprised I don't have any of these shades yet because they are stunning! Don't forget to visit her blog for more beauty, nail and skin care reviews!

Hello everyone! I’m Maria from Pink Petals and I’m doing a guest post on the CBB theme of the month, PLUM!

Plums are such beautiful colours, perfect for the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons. Plums I find are a little tricky because some are more red, while others are more purple. I think the easiest way to wear plum purples are on the lips and nails, so I will be showing a couple easy to find plum products.

T-B: Shameless, Hunk
Shameless is a deep, matte plum purple that applies opaque.
Hunk is a light, red-toned plum that applies a bit more sheer, but still very pigmented.

L-R: Sole Mate, Midnight Plum, Pat on the Back, Purr-fect Plum, Gayle

Sole Mate has a red base, making it dark and vampy.
Midnight Plum is a dark, almost black, purple.
Pat on the Back is a combination of Sole Mate and Midnight Purple, with its red base and almost black finish.
Purr-fect Plum is a deep, red based plum that's almost burgundy.

If you follow me on social media, you'll know last week was a tough one for me. I just wanted to first thank everyone that reached out to me - the blogging community is full of so many beautiful supportive people, and your kind words meant so much to me!
Even though it is really starting to feel like fall around here, that doesn't mean that you'll find me putting away all of my colourful wardrobe pieces. Rich jewel tones mesh perfectly with darker neutrals and a little bit of bling to bring the brights right into autumn.
Dress: Old Navy {similar} | Blazer: F21 {similar} | Necklace: c/o Happiness Boutique {exact}
Watch: Anne Klein {similar} | Belt: H&M {similar}
If you know me, you know I like anything that sparkles, but sometimes statement necklaces can be a bit restrictive in the number of ways you can wear them. Happiness Boutique was kind enough to send me this beautiful crystal statement necklace, and I've honestly had to stop myself from wearing it to work every day since I got it! The colour and style are so wearable and versatile, it was the perfect addition to my collection for when I want a little bling.

I'm really impressed with the quality of the chain - it's thick and sturdy without being super heavy, and the price is right! They offer free worldwide shipping and a customer rewards program, so if you're looking for J. Crew style jewelry at a fraction of the price, definitely check this site out!

What's your favourite jewel tone for fall?

If you're a regular reader of this blog you may have noticed I'm not much of a shorts girl, I much prefer the feminine silhouettes of dresses and skirts. However, during the summer/fall, when I'm spending as much time as possible at the cottage, whether it's kayaking during the day or hanging out around the fire at night soft comfortable cotton shorts just seem to be part of my weekend uniform.
Tank: Old Navy {exact} | Shorts: Campus Crew {similar} | Shirt: Garage {exact}
Sunglasses: H&M {similar} | Shoes: Airwalk {similar} | Necklace: Tiffany & Co. {exact}
The days may still be hot as hell, but now that the nights are getting a little more chilly a flannel shirt layered on top of my favourite basic long v-neck cami makes for a perfectly warm and comfy OOTD - 90s style.

Do you have an at-home uniform for keeping things comfy?

I may not be in school anymore, but since most of my work is with colleges and universities, this time of the year has been pretty crazy. Here are a few things articles and things I've loved reading to give myself a break from work!

Even over a year after getting my DSLR, there is still so much to learn about all the capabilities. Here are 8 things that I definitely didn't know my camera could do.

Karly did an amazing job on transforming her front foyer into the stuff of dreams - the before and after are stunning!

If you're a gmail user, these 13 Gmail Hacks are a great read on how you can put to use some of the features and apps I never knew existed!

Jana recently announced that she is rebranding and will be opening up a web boutique, and I couldn't be happier for her. She's always got great style, so I can't wait to see what beautiful pieces she brings into her shop!

I'm not a big meat eater, so I'm always looking for ways to get protein into my diet. These protein packed meals without the meat are definitely going in my rotation (Grilled Polenta with Mushrooms anyone?)

This fall it's my goal to cut the amount of stuff that I'm keeping in my house, but it can be overwhelming to know where to start. These 20+ things you can get rid of without even missing will be a good place to kick things off.

Bring on the long weekend and Tyler's birthday on Monday! What are you plans for labour day?

It's coming up to labour day weekend, and that means the unofficial end to summer. While I'll be shedding a tear for the warm summer weather, I can't wait to get back into my favourite season for fashion. Styles and trends come and go throughout the years, but here are some of the style pieces I can always rely on to transition me into the cooler weather.

Hats are some of my favourite accessories for transitioning into fall. Even if the weather isn't exactly cooporating with your cooler weather style choices, hats can easily be added to your summer styles to bring the look straight into fall.

Scarves are an absolute staple in my wardrobe for the cooler months. While I may not have a ton of pattern in my wardrobe, I love using patterned scarves to add the finishing touch to my outfits. Silk scarves to chunky knits, there is a style and weight for every type of environment.

Classic coats are always something to get excited about. They can instantly dress up or dress down your entire look depending on the style. To me, spending a little bit more to invest in a great quality coat will never steer you wrong!

I was hesitant about vests last year when I bought this quilted version, but it turned out to be one of my most used pieces of the season. Whether or not quilted puffer styles are your taste, there are tons of different vest styles that instantly add texture and wamth to whatever you've got going on underneath.

What pieces are you excited to bring back into your clothing rotation for fall?
